“GnomePen Classic – our most popular PAP pen”
The GnomePen Classic is a 7ml PAP pen that suffices for approximately 300 slides. The hydrophobic roller pen is designed for ease of use, and has outstanding performance and shelflife.
- Insensitive to detergents and PFA or formaline.
- Very fast drying time – 1 minute on the bench and under 30 seconds in a chemical fume hood.
- Glass adherent: either plain glass slides, Silan-subbed slides, and even to oil-covered glass slides or even slides covered with a thin layer of water.
- Suitable for standard microtome and cryotome sections (4-20microns).
- Color coded in six colors to minimize human errors*.
- Clear body – allow you to plan your experiments and order in advance.
* The multi-colored GnomePen Classic enables our customers to color code their work. For example, each laboratory user can have his or her preferred color. Sections can be color coded to the antibodies used or to treatments. We found out that using a red GnomePen for our controls helps a lot.

The GnomePen Classic forms a thin layer on the glass slide which can be removed using Xylene or even manually with a 200ul tip or a q-tip. However this is rarely required. A coverslip can be applied directly over the GnomePen Classic line. Feel free to use your preferred mounting-medium.
Note: Upon request, our GnomePen formulation can be supplied as a clear (yellowish) solution. It will form a nearly invisible line on the slide.
