“Detergent insensitive hydrophobic pens!”
We have designed a set of robust and user friendly hydrophobic barrier formulations for immunohistochemistry (IHC) and ImmunoFlourescence Assays (IF). Our goal in designing the formulation was to solve common and frustrating hydrophobic pen issues.
Thus, all of Invignome’s products are:
- Detergent resistant – e.g. Tween-20, Triton X100, Triton X114
- Fixative ressitant – PFA and formaline
- Color coded – a six color array to help our clients avoid mistakes.
- Clear applicators – so you won’t get stuck just before starting an experiment.
- For both – cryotome and paraffin embedded slices.
- Safe – for Antibodies and reagents
Here is a quick preview of our different PAP pens:
GnomePen Classic
GnomePen classic is our most popular product. This fine line 7ml pen can cover ~250 slices. Like all it’s brothers it’s highly hydrophobic and absolutely resistant to detergents and formaldehyde/PFA fixatives. Quick drying times allow for a fast-start. Plus, it comes in six colors so you can color code your antibodies or samples. Tip – don’t forget to mark the controls in red! (and don’t ask me how I know).
GnomePen Mini
Our newest product. A 3ml small volume for the occassional user. It has the same fine line and same hydrophobic properties. Much like it’s bigger brother it’s designed for thin slices (4-20micron) of cryo-sectiond or paraffin sectioned tissues.
GnomePen Flat
The GnomePen flat has the same 7ml volume of the classic GnomePen. However the pluger tip generates a wider line. It is designed to form a wide line to accomodate thick slices and Z-stack immunoflourescense or immunoflourescense. The line can be thickened by pressing lightly on the pen clear body.
BarrierPaste
Our first product. A heafty bulk brush applicator with a 10ml volume (up to 450 slides) results in extra-wide (but not thick) lines. It is mainly used for Z stacking 60micron slices or when a very tall dome of buffer is required.
We understand the cost of failing experiments, running after reagents you just found out you ran out of, and loosing antibodies due to leakage in your pen’s hydrophobic lines. We shared these issues, and we opted to do something about it! We are doing our best to give you the best IHC or IF experimentation environment we can.
